This course is an introduction to the wonderful world of Batik. Batik is an ancient craft and art practiced in many parts of the world but Java in Indonesia has some of the finest cloth In the world. Batik is created using a wax resist and vibrant silk dyes. We will use Tjanting, a pen like tool that collects the hot wax before applying it to the surface of the cloth. Tjantings come in a variety of sizes. We will then fix our silks in a rocket steamer. An amazing way to create pattern on cloth.

Each student attending the course will be provided with a silk square and test silk included in the course fee.

PLEASE NOTE: This course is only suitable for 18 years and above.
